Land Grant Communities of Practice
Land Grant Communities of Practice
The Land Grant system, established through the 1862 Morrill Act, was designed to democratize higher education by providing federal support for institutions that offer accessible, career-oriented education in fields like agriculture, science, engineering and the liberal arts.
Columbus community leader Liban Bule speaks about the Somali community at the 2024 African American Behavioral Health Conference.
Kirwan’s Land Grant Communities of Practice build on this legacy by creating collaborative networks between land grant institution researchers and local communities, aiming to address the needs of underserved populations. This model fosters partnerships that empower communities by ensuring that local needs are equipped with the latest research across a variety of topics, including but not limited to: education, employment, environment, health, housing and technology.
