Kirwan Strategic Plan
The 2024-2026 Strategic Plan
Conduct robust research that develops innovative CONCEPTS
Kirwan has had a long history of developing concepts and conceptual tools that revolutionize the study of race and ethnicity. We continue to work on what’s next, and we spotlight many of the Ohio State faculty doing work in this space during our Kirwan Forum Series and our intellectual communities of practice. One exciting intellectual community, the Intersectional Qualitative Research Methods Institute, is migrating this spring to Kirwan from the Consortium on Race, Gender & Ethnicity at the University of Maryland. It will bring early-career faculty from around the country to Ohio State to learn intersectional research methods and to spend time developing their current research project.
Serve as Collaborative Conveners to Turbocharge COMMUNITIES and Public-Private COLLABORATIONS
Kirwan continues its role as collaborative conveners through the establishment of a communities of practice model that has renewed how we engage and partner with communities throughout Ohio and the country on consequential research. Our recent research report, “A Positive Evolution: Exploring the Impact of the MBK Village,” details how we live our commitments to research excellence that empowers communities.
Create a high performing and inclusive culture and team to enable innovation
Our team works hard every day, and we intentionally take time to learn and explore together as part of our commitments to the Kirwan values of accountability, collaboration, and well-being.
