Dr. Darwin A. Baluran is a postdoctoral scholar at the Kirwan Institute and the Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University. He started his current position in July 2022. He conducts research at the intersection of race, health, criminology, and social control. He enjoys the collaborative environment at the Kirwan Institute, and he appreciates the Institute’s focus on community-engaged and policy-oriented research. Dr. Baluran earned his BS in Health Systems Management from Loyola University Chicago, where he was also a McNair scholar, and his MA and PhD in Sociology from Vanderbilt University.
