Expanding access to higher education is one of our nation’s top priorities. Accordingly, legislators and policymakers are attempting to balance budgets while continuing to support parents in their efforts to send their children to college. However, due to impending federal pronouncements and fiscal negotiations pertaining to student financial aid, parents, students, and campus administrators must develop creative ways to ensure barriers to a college education are mitigated, especially among low-income and racially diverse populations. Moreover, due to historical and contemporary social and economic conditions, many uderrepresented and low-income students face challenges in terms of financing their college education.
