Joshua Bates, with the Kirwan Institute, was a panelist and spoke about the movement Black Lives Matter and race in America.
“I believe it’s important to talk about issues surrounding race and building strategies that are race-specific,” Bates said after the panel. “When we’re talking about like Black Lives Matter, understanding that in the broader context of the history of race in the United States and also contemporary programs that sort of address these inequalities that are based on race in an emphatic way.”
OSU-Newark Multicultural Affairs Program Manager Vorley Taylor said she wanted to include different social movements so different perspectives could be seen and heard.
