Lead poisoning makes education harder for kids and teachers: Toxic Neglect

Here in Cleveland, where a multimillion-dollar taxpayer-funded plan is under way to improve the failing public schools, no one seems to be paying much attention to the lead factor.

A map created by Ohio State’s Kirwan Institute from department of health data shows predicted levels of lead poisoning in different census tracts in Cuyahoga County. The worst areas are on Cleveland’s East Side and in East Cleveland, where one third or more children are likely poisoned by lead in some areas.
