January 19, 2022
The Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, with the John Glenn College of Public Affairs and Knowlton School, received a $54,000 grant from the Ohio State Bar Foundation’s Racial Justice Initiative.
The award, which supports the first phase of a three-year project, will be used to fund the first phase of Opportunity Mapping Inclusion, a project designed to reframe the Kirwan Institute’s Opportunity Mapping model and develop an Opportunity Policy Portal for central Ohio. The long-term goal of the project is to address race-based exclusionary practices in Columbus neighborhood and community development.
The project will be led by the following Kirwan Institute research staff: Glennon Sweeney, Mikyung Baek, PhD, Michael Outrich and Kip Holley in partnership with Bernadette Hanlon, PhD, and Jason Reece, PhD, from the Knowlton School of Architecture, and Stephanie Casey Pierce, PhD, who is a joint Post-Doctoral Scholar at the Kirwan Institute and the John Glenn College of Public Affairs.
