Having joined the Kirwan Institute in 2013 wile completing her doctoral program, Kierra's work focuses on the impact of social determinants of health (i.e. socioeconomic conditions, education, and natural, built and social environments) on racial and ethnic health disparities. Recently, Kierra successfully defended her dissertation for Ph.D. in Public Health from the Ohio State University. Kierra also holds a Masters of Public Health from Ohio State and a Bachelor's of Science of Science in Community Health from the University of Illinois. As a Post-Doctoral Researcher, Kierra aims to extend Kirwan's scholarship in the field of Public Health. Working at Kirwan has afforded her the opportunity to collaborate with state, county and city public health departments, as well as non-for-profit organizations to address health disparities in communities across the country. In her spare time, Kierra enjoys 90s R&B music, audiobooks, and her fur-baby, Scarlet.
